Engineering Technician I - Facility and Utility Management Reports to:
Operations Manager FLSA Code:
Non-exempt hourly with overtime This position requires participation in a variety of basic technical work for sewer and water treatment, collection, and distribution facilities, involving both field and office support of Facility and Utility Management assignments.
It requires operating various types of equipment; performing related mathematical computations; completing reports; executing Standard Operating Procedures; and providing support to other Facility and Utility staff.
As an Engineering Technician I - Facility and Utility Management, you will utilize the company values in all phases of your work.
You shall perform the full range of duties as assigned under general supervision in a timely fashion, and show competency in the following areas:
Responsibilities:

Become proficient in office procedures e.

time sheets, mileage, expense reports, etc.
Flush fire hydrants Exercise valves using trailer mounted valve turning units or by hand Collect asset location and information by GPS Collect manhole data using visual and measuring devices for accurate data collection.
Respond to emergency water breaks, sewer back-ups, lift stations problems, hydrant leaks and other system malfunctions.
Attend training and perform non-permitted and permitted confine space entries.
Read water meters Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; clean or lubricate equipment Order parts, and fill material requests Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards Have the ability to travel out of town during the week to meet customer and project needs Evening and weekend availability required
Qualifications:
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Must have valid Illinois Driver's License.
Utilize various common software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to take direction, collaborate with other team members, have good interpersonal skills, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Average knowledge of mathematics is critical to some functions of this job Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
Work is performed in both an office environment and outdoors including sites with exposure to inclement weather or extreme weather conditions.
Moderate physical demands, including sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time.
Strength sufficiently to lift and move items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds.
Vision should be sufficient to see and read plan specifications with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate survey equipment.
Hearing sufficient to converse in the normal audio range with or without correction.
