The Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) seeks applicants for a special postdoctoral research opportunity, the St. Elmo Brady Future Faculty Fellow. Postdoctoral fellows in this program are expected to pursue independent research while also conducting research in an established lab. The salary is $45,000 per year with full benefits, and the position includes a $15,000 per year research fund. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable up to three years total, and recipients are expected to be in residence for the duration of the appointment. The purpose of the St. Elmo Brady Fellow program is to encourage and promote excellence and diversity (especially of women, African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans) in the pool of future faculty candidates in Chemistry at Illinois. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required. Individuals working toward a Ph.D. will be considered, but the dissertation must be defended and deposited prior to the start of the appointment. Applicants should submit a single PDF file containing a cover letter, curriculum vitae, graduate transcript (copy is acceptable but official transcript may be requested at a later date), summary of previous research, and summary of postdoctoral research plans. The cover letter should include contact information for three professional references who can emphasize the unique perspective that the applicant can bring to the research field. The summary of postdoctoral research plans should include both (1) a specific faculty mentor within the department and how the applicant plans to contribute to that mentor's research program, and (2) a description of independent research that the applicant plans to perform during the postdoctoral period. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
